Five-a-side Soccer at St. Benedict's

In memory of Sir Albert Fernando, a Five-a-Side soccer tournament for past and veteran soccer players of St. Benedict's College will be worked off tomorrow (13th August) at the College ground commencing 7.30AM.

Sir Albert Fernando was one the greatest footballers ever produced by St Benedict's College in the history of soccer. Later he coached his Alma Mata with many unbeaten champion out fits with memorable feats.

Chief Guest will be Rev. Brother Granville Perera Director of St. Benedict's College, Several special guest of honor and officials of the Old Bens Sports Club, including President Srilal De Silva are expected to grace this occasion.

The winning team will be awarded the Sir Albert Fernando Memorial Trophy and the runner up team will receive Sir Lawrence Fernando Trophy. Sri Lawrence Fernando is yet another Old Ben stalwart who promoted club soccer in Sri Lanka in a big way.

Several distinguished Old Bens soccer players are expected participate as well attend this tournament. There will be special awards for 'The most valuable player of the day' under each of the following age groups.
Below 40 Years, Between 40-45, 45-50, 50-55 and 55-60 Years
The Six participating teams will be captained by Neville Perera, Pinto Fernando, Tony Anandappa, Jayantha Wanigasuriya, Rohan Jayawardena and Lakshman Caldera.
The Tournament is organized by the active past soccer players of St. Benedict's College.
