Formation of the 11th OBU Overseas Branch in Doha-Qatar

I am delighted to announce the good news of the formation of our 11th OBU Overseas branch in Doha-Qatar, named “SBC OBU QATAR”.
With the grace of the Lord Almighty, the inaugural meeting was held on 9th May 2013, electing the office bearers.
As per Old Benedictine Hans W. Thomasz - Gen. Secretary of the OBU Qatar Branch, It all initiated as follows.
Well it was something that we wanted to do a long time, but didn’t realize until late recently that we have this many Old Bens residing in Qatar. However the trigger for formally establishing the Qatar OBU was when Rajitha and myself received an email and official letter from the" Bens Rugby Wing" asking for support. So we thought we will reach out to some other old bens whom we knew; This idea with the leadership of Tony, transformed into the formally establishing Old Bens Qatar OBU.
We have formed the OBU with the objective of aiding in the Development of; Educational, Religious, Sports and Cultural activities of the college.
As an immediate contribution we will proceed to fund the Bens Rugby Wing as indicated above.
The Qatar Branch also has earmarked projects they plan to implement for the development of our Alma Mater.

On behalf of the global Benedictine fraternity, we wish the newly elected committee of St. Benedict’s College Old Boys’ Union – Qatar, God’s abundant blessings for initiating the formation of the Branch and hope that they, just as the other overseas branches, continue to promote loyalty to our Alma Mater, foster mutual help and good fellowship among the Old Boys and encourage and assist the present boys in their activities, and also to assist the College in its future projects for further development of the School.
