BLEND OF YOUTH & EXPERIENCE ATTEND SYDNEY BENS AGM
OBU Sydney, AustrlaiaMany new, youthful faces were among the Old Bens who attended the Sydney Bens' Annual General Meeting that took place on Saturday November 7 at the Cherrybrook Uniting Church hall. The meeting commenced with a Minute's silence in memory of Sydney Bens who had passed on during the year. The meeting got under way after outgoing President Ranjith Velayuthen made brief introductions of the newcomers to the old brigade and vice-versa.
Charles Emerson became the first new OBA member to be elected to the committee. Another significant change was the election of Lionel Machado as Secretary. Lionel had played a sterling role as Treasurer for nine years and was seeking a new challenge.
The following is the make-up of the Sydney Bens team:
PATRON: Felix Pieris; PRESIDENT: Ranjith Velayuthen (re-elected); VICE-PRESIDENT: Sherwell Fernando; SECRETARY: Lionel Machado; TREASURER: Julian Pillai; SPORTS SECRETARY: Ronnie Almeida; SOCIAL SECRETARY: Prakash Fernandopulle. GENERAL COMMITTEE: Anton Massillamany, Hynsworth LaFaber; Dr Dan Godamunne; Doug Jones;
and Charles Emerson. Max Perumal was appointed AUDITOR and Doug Jones re-appointed as EDITOR.
