BENEDICTINE ATHLETES SHINE AT THE SOUTH ASIAN JUNIOR ATHLETIC CHAMPIONSHIPS IN COLOMBO
The three athletes from St. Benedict’s College who represented Sri Lanka in the just concluded South Asian Junior Athletic Championships at the Sugathadasa Stadium, brought Glory and Honour to our Alma Mater with their excellent performances.

Ravishka Indrajith won a well deserved Gold Medal as the third lapper of the Sri Lanka 4 x 400 meters Relay Team, which established a New Games Record of 3.08.23 minutes, beating the existing record by over 6 seconds. India finished in second place.

Benedictine Yohan Dhanushka Silva was extremely unlucky to be deprived of a well deserved gold medal in the 4 x 100 meters Relay event. The following report in the SUNDAY TIMES describes it all.

“Sri Lanka were cruising smoothly at the end of the first 200 meters but Chamod Yodasinghe running the third lap dropped the baton, which was smoothly passed on to him by Yohan Silva, ending Sri Lanka’s hopes for a clean sweep of the Relay Titles.”

Congratulations to Ravishka, Prageeth and Yohan. You have done us all proud. We wish you all success in future events in the 2018 season.
